CIMA: Reservoir Arrays for Biosensing

This talk will described the MicroCHIPS' diabetes system will achieve long-term biosensing in a unique way. By sequentially activating a series of short-term glucose sensors housed in micro-reservoirs, this device can provide fresh sensors on demand and offer a year or more of continuous data to patients and their physicians. Through wireless communication, it can transmit data locally for the patient or through a network to a patient's physician or caregiver. The device, which could be placed subcutaneously using local anesthesia, is a long-term solution designed to overcome the limited life of transdermal glucose sensors, eliminate the patient discomfort and inconvenience associated with their use, and provide critical data to help improve patient care.
